New Twist in CS Keriako Tobiko's Dispute With Governor Mike Sonko

Nairobi Members of the County Assembly have demanded an apology from Environment Cabinet Secretary Keriako Tobiko for allegedly disrespecting Governor Mike Sonko.

Led by Waithaka Ward MCA Anthony Karanja, the Ward Reps maintained that there was a section of the executive that wass out to frustrate Sonko.

"It was very clear that Tobiko did not recognize the presence of Governor Sonko. Actually, this is not the first time that Sonko is being subject to this kind of humiliation, we have just been silent about it,” Karanja stated.

“Nairobi County is not able to perform well because of the frustrations by the section of the Executive, but we are now not going to allow them,” he added.

Karanja further argued that this was the first time leaders in the Executive and Nairobi County government are from Jubilee, terming it as a golden opportunity for them to work together.

“It is very unfortunate that something like that happened in a function attended by the Head of State and his deputy. We hope that President Uhuru is going to intervene and ensure that Sonko is allowed space to deliver on his promise to his people,” the Ward Rep maintained.

Mlango-Kubwa MCA Patricia Mutheu added her voice to the matter arguing that disrespecting Sonko was disrespecting the 45 elected MCAs.

Governor Sonko on Saturday clashed with Environment CS Keriako Tobiko at a function attended by President Uhuru Kenyatta where he accused the Cabinet Secretary of disrespecting the Nairobi county leadership following the protocol hitch.

Sonko protested loudly after Tobiko skipped him in the speeches and instead invited Deputy President William Ruto to speak at the event.

He told off Tobiko stating: "Rais hajadisband county government. Hii mambo ya kudharau county government muwache."
