Willy Mutunga Questions Mike Sonko's Approach to Waste Management in Nairobi

Former Chief Justice Willy Mutunga on Sunday evening posed a question to Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko over the garbage menace plaguing the county.

Mutunga's made the comment after the Nairobi Governor, during an interview with Citizen TV, acknowledged that the waste in Nairobi was a challenge.

"I admit that garbage collection is a menace. I am telling Nairobi that Sonko wants to fulfil his pledges. I want to benchmark with Dubai," Sonko conveyed during the interview.

Through social media, Mutunga posed a question using Kamba dialect: "We Mbuvi ni wisi takataka yiiva Ilovi withi Dubai kwika ata mwa? (Mbuvi, you know that the garbage is in Nairobi, what are you going to do in Dubai)."

His tweet elicited reactions from Kenyans with many siding with the former CJ's sentiments.

"Anataka kuenda Dubai (Sonko wants to go to Dubai) on a benchmarking mission on how to sweep and dispose solid waste. Kenyans are not fools. Kama ameshindwa kazi (if he is unable to deliver) he should resign or we recall him. NKT!" one user stated.

"I think the only people who will educate Sonko are his kins/clansmen. Let hope the language spoken here will sink in his head."

Another stated: "Sonko ena ngui mbingi muno mwa CJ na avua ngui either ndemina term yake vo kana ndakavasyoka ingi (Sonko is a joker and if he doesn't get serious he will not serve his full term, he will either quit before the term ends or he will not get re-elected)."

"Avalukya Ilovi eithwa aanaangia Mukamba woonthe siasani sya Ilovi (If he fails in Nairobi, he will ruin it for other Kamba leader looking to vie in Nairobi)," another stated..

"In other words, Sonko should find solutions here at home. Not in Dubai," one user noted.
