Mike Sonko Promised to Appoint Miguna Miguna in 2016

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko on Wednesday nominated Self-styled National Resistance Movement (NRM) General Miguna Miguna to be his Deputy Governor.

The announcement caught many by surprise including Dr Miguna who stated that: "Sonko and I have not spoken, met or communicated since our gubernatorial debate in July 2017. I will not comment on malicious information, material or cheap propaganda circulating in the social media."

A tweet dated May 2016 by the Nairobi Governor promised that he was keen on having Miguna in his administration in the event he won.

At the time, the NRM general who recently cancelled his return to the country dismissed the offer.

"I cannot serve under or with a member of the cartel, thief or drug lord. Do you understand?

"No place for cartels, drug lords and thieves in my administration. Kapish. Kamale, join the revolution," he fired back.

Nairobi Woman representative Esther Passaris chimed in on the debate faulting Sonko's decision to include Miguna in his administration.

"Why? What value will he add? He's extremely vain, if u don't accept his views, u will be his next title as his ego is insatiable," she conveyed.

In a letter to Nairobi County assembly speaker Beatrice Elachi, the Governor justified why he wanted the vocal advocate to be second in command.

"The nominee meets all the requirements provided for in the constitution, the leadership and integrity act, election act and the county government act," stated the governor.
