Woman in Breastfeeding Saga Lied, Here is the Evidence - Olive Hotel

Olive Restaurant Hotel in Nairobi, which was accused of mistreating a woman while breastfeeding her baby, stated that the lady was lying.

In a presser on Monday, the hotel's management maintained the aggrieved woman, identified as Betty Kim, lied to the public as well as the media about what transpired.

“We have gone ahead to call for the lady known as Betty to come to us so that we can be in a position to effectively deal with this issue with complete information to no avail,” the statement read.

According to the management, CCTV footage as availed by does not show Betty being ordered to feed the baby in the washroom as earlier alleged.

The management stated that Betty entered the hotel at around 12:38 pm and placed her order within a minute of sitting and her food was delivered five minutes later.

Surveillance footage which was played at the hotel confirmed that Betty was able to breastfeed her child and a waiter was also seen approaching her table and holding a conversation.

It was, however, difficult to tell what was transpiring because the footage captures the waiter from behind.

The restaurant’s management, while denying any wrongdoing, stated that they will provide space to cater for breastfeeding mothers to avert any such incidences in the future.

Betty’s allegations that she was kicked out of the restaurant for breastfeeding her baby drew public uproar, leading to a major demonstration of Women of Kenya on behalf of their children on Tuesday, May 15, 2018.
