A fire broke out on Wednesday morning at the Maternity wing of Mbagathi hospital leaving patients stranded.
Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, a representative from the hospital confirmed that the fire had broken out in one of the blocks housing mothers and newborns at 2 AM.
She added that the fire had since been contained.
"There was an electrical fault and short period of a blackout. The fire has been contained and there have been minimal damages with no injuries or casualties. Everyone is okay," she assured.

The moment the fire broke out, women in labour, mothers and their newborns were evacuated out of the building as staff battled the fire.
Reports indicated that the block that caught fire had been condemned by the county engineers.
“The building has many cracks and has no fire extinguishers,” a nurse at the hospital was quoted by the Nation.
“We were forced to borrow lanterns and paraffin from the National Spinal Injury Hospital in Hurlingham," she added.
The county government constructed the 120-bed maternity wing at Mbagathi hospital in 2014.
However, in April, city engineers declared the block structurally unsound after hospital staff complained that it had cracks.
