The budgetary allocation to Rachel Ruto's office by the National Treasury has been raised by 700 percent.
According to a report by the Business Daily, the Treasury will now allocate Ksh118.5 Million for the hiring of staff, paying salaries and allowances.
This will mean an extra Ksh103.5 Million from the current year allocation of Ksh14.7 Million.

Running Rachel's office will now cost Ksh305.6 Million in the next financial year starting July from the current financial year's Ksh187.2 Million.
The Treasury did not specify the reasons for the payroll rise in Rachel’s office in the next financial year.
This rise comes shortly after another rise in 2014 where the annual budget allocation was raised to Ksh102.9 million.
First Lady Margaret Kenyatta's office allocation has remained relatively stable with a slight increase from the current Ksh430 Million to Ksh437 Million in the next financial year.
However, the current year budget for Margaret's office has witnessed a significant rise from the Ksh114.4 Million allocated in 2013.
Rachel has been actively engaged in empowering women through table banking initiatives, business and provision of affordable credit.

As the spouse of Deputy President, Rachel is also entitled to a salary although she has notably been actively involved in a nationwide women empowerment drive since 2014.
