Chris Kirubi's Plea to Kisumu Residents After Meeting Raila

NASA leader Raila Odinga on Tuesday paid Business mogul Chris Kirubi a courtesy call at his home in Nairobi.

During the meeting, Kirubi asked Kisumu residents to instill confidence among investors to spur development in the lake city.

Speaking shortly after the meeting, Kirubi noted: "Kisumu has such a huge potential, more than anywhere else because it has a big lake."

Pointing out the occasional chaos that rocks the lakeside especially during the electoral cycle, he stated that for investors to invest in Kisumu, the locals have to give confidence to investors which would allow the city to grow.

On his part, he promised that: "I will be one of the investors in Kisumu… but investors don’t invest in cycles. We want long-term peace."

His message appeared to resonate with the "Building Bridges to a New Kenyan Nation" initiative that was launched by President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga.

Kirubi further indicated that Raila's legacy following the handshake will be geared towards developing and creating one Kenya where young Kenyans can find and explore opportunities in any part of the country.

Supporting the sentiments, Raila indicated that he will retire a happy man if he succeeds in creating the right conditions for uniting the country.

"If every Kenyan can move around the country freely and be able to realize their potential, I will feel that I would have lived a useful life in the country," Raila indicated.
