Kisumu Chief of Staff Arrested for Threatening to Shoot Governor Anyang' Nyong’o

Kisumu County Chief of Staff Patrick Ouya has been arrested for allegedly threatening to shoot Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o and his Deputy Dr Mathew Owili.

Ouya threatened Owili yesterday night before he went seeking the governor in his office this morning with the same threats.

The chief of staff hinted that after committing the atrocities, he would kill himself.

It is reported that on Tuesday morning, he found the governor's office locked and retreated to his county office.

He then summoned the two officials from Nyong’o’s security detail and intimated that he would shoot the county boss.

In a haste, the two informed the governor who duly called the police.

According to the County Police Commander John Kamau, a search was done in Ouya’s office but no gun was found.

The county official was then remanded at the Central Police Station in Kisumu for questioning and was later released.

It is not clear what prompted Ouya to issue these threats but Kamau indicated that investigations into the matter had started.

In January this year, Ouya, who is a licensed arm holder, threatened to shoot Seme ODM chairman Leonard Ochar.

Earlier in 2015, he drew his gun and shot in the air in a funeral service forcing mourners to scamper to safety.
