MCAs Exchange Blows Over Plans to Impeach Senior Officials [VIDEO]

Kisumu County Assembly ward representatives on Tuesday traded blows after a disagreement ensued over plans to impeach 2 senior officials.

Trouble began when two notices of Motion to impeach the County Executive Committee (CEC) member for Finance and the CEC for Planning in Governor Peter Anyang' Nyongo’s administration was tabled.

The two notices of Motion were brought before the House by Chief Whip Gard Olima creating division in the house.

Some of the MCAs opposed the move while others stamped their feet in support of the Motions set for debate next week.

A section of the MCAs pointed an accusing finger to the chief whip for allegedly going against their will and including CEC of Planning in the list of officers to be impeached.

Manyatta B ward representative Pamela Odhiambo told the House that there were rumours that the assembly was also planning to table a motion to impeach Governor Nyong'o.

As the debate heated up, Market-Milimani legislator Seth Kanga accused a section of his colleagues of plotting to bring down Nyongo’s government.

There was a walkout when debate on a motion seeking to impose revenue on sand harvesting began as the MCAs protested.

A scuffle ensued outside the assembly's chambers soon after with some of the MCAs started accusing the Chief Whip and his counterparts of working to sabotage the County Boss.

A bitter verbal exchange among more than 15 MCAs culminated in Joachim Okech (Kondele) and Victor Rodgers (Migosi) getting into a fist fight.
