Nairobi MCA Busted Complaining About Receiving Less Bribe

An audio has emerged exposing a legislator identified as Utalii MCA Wilson Ochola complaining after being given less bribe than he expected.

In the audio, the lawmaker is recorded seemingly admitting to receiving an alleged bribe but later questioning why the amount was reduced.

The man is captured mentioning: "We as Members of the County Assembly are fighting corruption….and we were shocked when we received Ksh1 million that we haven’t worked for. I wondered what the money was for.

"After investigations, we found out that this money was Ksh10 million and the money that was brought to Mombasa was Ksh5 million…..and instead of Ksh5 million, we were given one million…The rest of the money iko wapi...Ikiharibika imeharibika...," he added.

The MCA, who is a member of the Labour Committee, further notes that the one million bribe was shared equally for them to alter facts of a certain report.

"Sisi wote tulipata kitu (We all received it)….They gave one of our members one million kwa choo akatuletea…. (We were all given something….They gave one of our members one million in the toilet and he gave us),” the legislator affirmed.

The audio clip which cannot be authenticated of when it was recorded also captures the Nairobi County Assembly Minority Whip rebuking the county government over some of its actions.

According to Citizen Digital, the MCA is noted to have taken the county government to court claiming that it misappropriated the funds through irregular procurement of health services for staff.

The audio emerges at a time when County boss Mike Sonko has vowed to deal with the rampant corruption incidents at City Hall.

Sonko has in the recent past been noted complaining that City Hall has so many 'cartels' who are derailing his fight against corruption in the county.
