DP Ruto Allies Now Want Mzee Jomo Kenyatta to Undergo Lifestyle Audit

Leaders allied to DP William Ruto have called for the scope of the recently ordered lifestyle audit on government officials to be expanded.

While expressing support for the plan by President Uhuru Kenyatta, Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi asked Uhuru to ensure the audit looked into past governments since 1963 when Kenya gained independence.

"I saw the the other day that the President said we should do a lifestyle audit. We are supporting the President 100 per cent. Even me Sudi, I should be audited from the time I was a tout till now when I am MP.

"They should also audit my father when he was a cook at Moi University till now. Everybody should accept that audit, Let it  start with Jomo [Uhuru's father] himself, then come right up to you [Uhuru],” he stated on Saturday.

Sudi maintained that the process must be comprehensive as he declared that he was ready to account for all his wealth.

Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina who is a member of the Raila Odinga-led Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) also wanted the Truth Justice and Reconciliation Commission (TJRC) report implemented as part of the renewed fight on graft.

The report contains details of how leaders including Jomo Kenyatta amassed great wealth such as huge tracts of land irregularly during their time in office.

“Kenyatta himself appears to have benefited immensely from irregular allocations of land that should have benefited those who lost land to Arab and British colonisers,” it reads in part.

“Now that the President has directed a lifestyle audit for everyone, including himself and Ruto, can he also direct that the TJRC report be implemented fully? Stop selective wars against corruption,”  Ole Kina told The Star.

Speaking in Mombasa over the weekend, Raila alluded to Ruto's tours across the country as he asked him to stop 'loitering'.

Without mentioning names, he stated that the 2022 Presidency was not guaranteed as the people would decide.

In veiled terms, Raila told the President that there was prey which could not be hunted with a dog and needed a lion.
