Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has divulged that he called Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i on the phone to encourage him in the fight against contraband sugar.
"I actually called Dr. Matiangi yesterday, I haven’t called him for long so I think its something to do with this handshakes, to encourage him because if you do not know how government works, the minister for interior cannot just open his mouth just like that," Kalonzo mentioned.
The former Vice President also applauded security agencies for arresting KEBS Managing Director Charles Ongwae and nine other officials suspected of being behind the influx of contraband goods in the country.

Additionally, the NASA co-principal asserted that the fight against illegal sugar and other contraband goods must be encouraged for the safety of Kenyans.
He also commented that the sugar cartels had led to the death of local sugar industries, which the western Kenya region depends on resulting in massive job losses.
"When we were negotiation the East Africa Customs Union Treaty, we had to put safeguards, what we were calling the sensitive list to bar countries like Egypt, not to be allowed to export sugar to Kenya, in the effort to safeguard our sugar industry," Kalonzo posed.
KEBS Managing Director Mr Ongwae was on Friday arrested in connection with the ongoing probe into contraband sugar in Kenya.
The boss was taken in a day after he contradicted Interior CS Matiang'i when he claimed that no mercury was found in the impounded sugar.
Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) operatives swooped in and arrested the KEBS boss along with six other officials including senior managers Eric Chesire and Eric Ochieng.
Ongwae, together with the other officers who are in custody, will on Monday appear in court where they will face murder charges.
A statement by the office of the Director Of Public Prosecution on Friday stated that the KEBS officials were arrested in connection to the importation of substandard fertilizer from Morocco and use of fake KEBS stickers permitting the importation.
