President Uhuru Invited to China by President Xi Jingpin

President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jingpin on Monday invited President Uhuru Kenyatta for a special leaders forum in China that will take place in September.

Conveying the news, State House Spokesman Manoah Esipisu explained that Kenyatta was among 52 African presidents invited to the Forum for China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).

"Kenya enjoys a strong partnership with China, built on the principle of win-win and mutual benefit.

"It is clear that Chinese investment in Kenya is unlocking infrastructure potential and the Standard Gauge Railway, the largest infrastructure investment in the country since independence is the principal example of this," Esipisu illustrated.

"The China-Africa summit offers the opportunity to review progress, and specifically for Kenya to deepen that partnership to benefit both countries," he added.

The spokesperson conveyed that President Kenyatta had accepted the invite and would attend due to the favourable implications on his Big Four Agenda framework.

Uhuru recently pledged further collaboration with the Asian nation and its president.
