Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki Apologizes to DP Ruto

Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki was forced by circumstances to apologize to Deputy President William Ruto during an event attended by the two in the county.

Njuki, who had four months ago told the DP to forget the region's support in the 2022 presidential race, changed his tune by asking for forgiveness for the past utterances.

"After the elections, there was a time when we were upset by the cabinet appointments. I may have some statements against you. It was in the heat of the moment and there were no ill motives.

"If there is anybody I wronged with my sentiments (referring to the DP) I apologize!" he stated.

He went further to plead with DP Ruto to consider a person from the region for a senior government appointment.

"Every time you make an announcement, I feel like one of our own is capable of taking up the responsibilities, like Mzalendo Kibunjia. If he were to be given a high profile job, the people of this region will be eternally grateful," Njuki stated.

DP Ruto has over the weekend been in the county where he launched a number of projects.

He lay a foundation stone for construction of KMTC, Chuka and commissioned the Keria- Magutuni- Makutano- Kathwana Road in the area.

The Deputy President also officiated the groundbreaking of Kamaguna Secondary School and a funds drive for an education fund for needy and bright students in Tharaka, Maara and Chuka/Igambang’ombe constituencies.

Earlier on, the Tharaka Nithi Governor was vocal in expressing his disappointment following the exclusion of someone from the county when President Uhuru Kenyatta announced his Cabinet appointments.

At the time, he threatened to withdraw the county's support from Ruto's 2022 presidential bid.
