Little communication was given to the press about the trip but the opposition leader disclosed that the tour is an effort to deepen Kenya-India ties that will see many Kenyan students benefit from foreign scholarship.

Odinga also visited Sri Lanka where he had diplomatic talks with several government officials.

On Sunday, he visited Bangalore state where he rekindled the legacy of his father and former vice president Jaramogi Oginga Odinga.

“I met with Kenyan students in Bangalore and reflected on Mzee Jaramogi’s days in the city.” he posted

He also graced a wedding reception where he met Malaysian Senator Tan Sri Dato and former Indian Chief Minister Bookanakere Yeddurappa.

Raila is expected back to the country in time for preparations of receiving former US President Barack Obama.

This is the third diplomatic trip made by the ODM leader since his handshake with President Uhuru Kenyatta in March.

In February, he attended the funeral service of Zimbabwe opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai.

Later in April, he represented the state in the funeral service of South African freedom fighter Winnie Mandela.
