Kisumu Governor Anyang' Nyong'o has revealed why the family left out some of the siblings in drafting the inheritance of their father's Ksh200 million estate.
Nyongo’s father who reportedly died on November 10, 2016, and did not leave a will which led the family into a war regarding the inheritance of the vast estates since once of their brothers has not been in touch since 1980 and the two sisters are deceased.
Nyong’o and his sister Nyagoy Nyong'o, heir apparent of the estate that includes 100 acres piece of land in Miwani, parcels of land in Manyatta, Tamu, Milimani estates, and East Rata in Kisumu have admitted to the court that they left out some relatives.

The duo is fighting the inclusion of two nephews Geoffrey Omondi Nyong’o and Kenneth Odhiambo Okuthe, sons of their two deceased sisters from becoming co-administrators of the estate with Nyong'o had previously termed the claimants as "opportunists".
Defending the decision to leave some of the siblings in the list of beneficiaries of the multi-million property, Nyagoy on Wednesday told the court that the decision was not informed by any ill intentions.
Their two nephews Geoffrey Omondi Nyong’o and Kenneth Odhiambo Okuthe, sons of their two deceased sisters Margaret Awuor and Judith Nyong’o have however challenged the decision noting that other deceased family members were included in sharing out the wealth.
The nephews hence term the decision on inheritance as discrimination although Nyong'o and Nyagoy have insisted that the decision was in good faith.
According to Nyagoy, even though Nyong'o took care of the two after the death of their parents, they were not beneficiaries of their grandfather’s property as "Nyong'o considered them like one of his six children".
In an earlier joint affidavit, Nyong'o had alleged that the court application aimed to "embarrass and extort Nyong’o now that he was elected the governor of Kisumu County".

However, the complainants have refuted these allegations telling the courts that theirs is just a prayer "to get the justice that we did not get from our own relatives".
An earlier attempt by the presiding judge to have the family resolve the matter out of court failed since the quarrelling parties could not reach an agreement on sharing the estate that includes some flats built on a parcel of land along Jogoo Road, Nairobi.
