Police also created a buffer around the preacher’s alter with Kenyans carrying their sick and lame with the hope of receiving healing at the crusade.

Nairobi police commandant Joseph Ole Tito explained that there is nothing strange with Owuor having the security detail during his crusades.

“We anticipated many people would attend the crusade and that is why you saw those officers. We did not want to be blamed for security lapses,” stated Ole Tito, dismissing claims the GSU elite squad had been deployed to the event.

He also revealed that they had established that the men in black suits were former police and military officers who had been turned into the Repentance Ministries leader’s security detail.

It has also emerged that at least ten officers had been summoned to the police headquarters to explain why they had turned up to the event.
