Lulu Hassan and Rashid Abdalla to Anchor News Together [VIDEO]

Popular journalist and Citizen TV presenter Lulu Hassan will now anchor the Swahili prime time news alongside her husband Rashid Abdalla.

The two anchors were unveiled on Thursday evening as the Royal Media-owned station made changes to stamp its continued dominance in the Swahili news category.

Citizen Nipashe suffered a major setback following the exit of Kanze Dena, the Deputy State House Spokesperson and Deputy Head of PSCU, who had anchored alongside Lulu for over five years - a spot that Rashid has filled.

Unveiling what it termed as " star-studded dream team", the media station also indicated that the Nipashe team will also feature Jamila Mohamed, Swaleh Mdoe, Mashirima Kapombe, Mwanahamisi Hamadi, and Nimrod Taabu.

A statement by the media house termed the team as "an all-star cast of the most celebrated Swahili news anchors in the country".

Following the changes, Citizen added that they are now "set to breathe fresh air into the Swahili News Bulletin and completely dominate local Swahili news".

Prior to joining Citizen TV, Abdalla was a news anchor at NTV - another dominant TV station in the country.

The couple is blessed with two sons, Jibran and Irfan whom Kanze has previously revealed were the reason she met Lulu for the first time - during a birthday party.

Kanze's exit was an emotional moment for Lulu that saw the two hug and weep during a surprise farewell party - a clear indicator of the strong bond they had developed over the years as co-anchors.
