Siaya Governor Cornel Rasanga Refuses to be Searched During Obama's Visit in Kogelo

Siaya Governor Cornell Rasanga was embroiled in a confrontation with security teams which had been deployed at Kogelo during the visit by former U.S President Barack Obama.

At the launch of the Sauti Kuu Foundation being graced by Obama, the governor clashed with a security team conducting checks on all attendees of the event.

“I am the governor of this county, I will not be searched,” Rasanga stated.

However, after consultations, governor Rasanga was allowed into the without being frisked.

Rasanga was part of the team which was attending the event at Kogelo for the inauguration of the Foundation by Obama's half-sister Dr Auma.

Journalists on the ground confirmed that Rasanga’s bodyguards were, however, not allowed into the venue as they were armed.

Contrary to Governor Rasanga's approach, his Kisumu counterpart Prof. Anyang’ Nyong’o stood in the queue and allowed the security personel to frisk him.

Heavy security was deployed at the Sauti Kuu Foundation Centre – where Obama was the Chief Guest during the vocational training center’s launch – as well as at his grandmother’s home in Kogelo.

According to reports, at least half a dozen lorries with GSU officers and other vehicles from the US embassy with more security personnel were deployed at the centre during Obama's visit.

Secret Service officials were also in sight to oversee the smooth running of the former U.S President's visit in Kogelo.

Two roadblocks, which were half-a-kilometer apart were also erected along the road leading to the institute.

In order for one to gain access past the roadblocks, they were required to have very high-level clearance.
