The 80-year-old Among 3 Kidnappers Shot Dead in Murang'a

Police in Murang’a county on Thursday shot dead an 80-year-old woman suspected to be a member of a kidnapping gang after an altercation.

The old lady had allegedly colluded with two others to lock up a female victim in her house and threatened to kill the victim by cutting off her head.

“The owner of the house, a female aged approximately over 80 yrs old has been feeding the victim with food, and threatening to chop her head with a panga,” the police report stated in part.

According to the police, the suspects included two middle-aged men and it was unclear why they committed the crime of locking up the victim unwillingly since they had just planned to rob her as narrated by the victim.

"They dragged me off my car and into their vehicle, slapped me and asked me to give them all the money I had and ATMs,” the victim, Margaret Waithera told The Star.

“An exchange of fire ensued where two middle-aged men and the old woman were fatally injured,” the document added.

Criminal Investigations Officer Julius Rutere stated that the police officers on site got an AK47 rifle as well as a toy pistol.
