Pastor Godfrey Migwi Calls for Abolishing of Woman Representative Position

Nairobi-based pastor Godfrey Migwi has hit out at Woman Representatives calling for the abolishment of the position to enhance equality.

In a video on Thursday evening, the pastor pointed out that women leaders in the government were not focusing on their duties noting but were rather concentrating on sideshows.

: “My opinion as a leader in this country chosen by God and as an adviser, is that women leaders should focus on the work that Kenyans gave you.

“We don’t need those petty issues. We need to people who will work because after four years the Wanjikus (common folk) will ask what you delivered,” he stated.

The Kayole-based pastor's remarks were that he was not only advising on issues to do with politics but also on leadership.

Pastor Godfrey also poked at the constitution stating, “I know the constitution wanted to give women some place in leadership. But after constitution favouring our women, it seems they want to chase others in their businesses.”

He noted that some women leaders had started following in the footsteps of their male counterparts in order to supposedly get positions in the 2022 government.

“Our women leaders want to rule by force. Please, be humble. Kenyans respect your leadership but you are supposed to respect others,” he stated.

The pastor also threw a jab at the Laikipia woman rep Catherine Waruguru’s fiasco which saw her kicked out of a hotel in Kericho for failing to produce a marriage certificate.

”I heard about that hotel in Kericho. That woman rep said that the owner of the hotel sits on a land that was stolen and other things. You cannot say that. Where do you want them to go? You are enjoying taxpayers money, he is doing his business; don’t incite because your needs weren’t met. That is very wrong as a leader,” he added.

“Kenyans are watching, we as church leaders are also watching and we must speak the truth,” he warned about their behaviour which he deemed as ‘forceful'.

“This constitution needs to be checked and those seats reserved for women should be checked as well. If anyone wants to lead, let them go to the grassroots and talk their way into positions without any special treatment from the constitution,” he asserted noting that women leaders were getting favoured by the constitution while not delivering.

Most of the reactions on the post were in support of his sentiments with others commenting that just like in any business, rules should be adhered to.

The pastor has been vocal in his opinion at one time attacking the opposition as well as the government.
