Governor Joho, Safaricom Foundation Unveil Coast General Maternity Unit

Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho on Monday officiated the handing over of the Coast General Maternity Reception and High Dependency Unit which was equipped by the Safaricom Foundation.

The project was part of the Twaweza Live experience that flagged of its third edition dubbed the coast takeover with an aim of transforming communities across the country and understanding the needs of its customers by bringing services and opportunities closer to them.

He was accompanied by Safaricom Foundation Trustee Rita Okuthe. The unveiling of the unit is in line with the governor's efforts to improve health facilities in the county.

Over the weekend, Joho stated: "As we continue to devolve quality healthcare services, Tudor Sub-County level 4 hospital successfully conducted its first caesarean section surgery. Our gratitude goes out to the Almighty for the safe delivery of the healthy baby and the Kenya Red Cross for their valued partnership."

Bringing the Twaweza Live experience to the coastal region, residents are invited to seek medical attention from health experts in a free medical camp that will be held on July 27 at Mwembeni Bush, Shanzu.

The residents are also treated to other activities. Over the weekend, residents turned up in large numbers for the Safaricom Twaweza Live local talent search that took place at Pride Inn, Shanzu.

Similar to previous regions that attracted over 500 participants overall, the four judges are in search for a deejay, musician and hype man who will be performing alongside the lineup artistes on Saturday, 28th of August.

On Friday, all roads will lead to the Mombasa Sports Club for the BLAZE BYOB summit where Blazers will access different mentors who are professionals in their field of passion.
