Safaricom Twaweza Live Experience Gears Up For a Coast Takeover

Meaningful mentorship involves a great teacher who takes a hand, opens a mind and touches a heart.

We all endeavour to be transformed and to make our lives better but there are never enough teachers to lead and show us the way.

In the midst of all the pandemonium, however, there seems to be light at the end of the tunnel because one teacher has stepped up. They have seen that our people need just a bit of inspiration coupled up with some passion and a tad of innovation to finally open the door to transformation.

That teacher manifested themselves recently in Meru and they are about to do it yet again in Mombasa this week.

Safaricom’s #TwawezaLive experience is geared towards transforming communities across the country and understanding the needs of its customers by bringing services and opportunities closer to them.

The initiative is characterized with roadshow caravans, free medical camps, campus takeovers, great device offers, talent search activities, youth mentorship programmes and an explosive music concert to sum it all up.

The Meru edition witnessed record attendance with over 16,000 people turning up for the music concert, and over 3,000 attending the free medical camp.

Farmers in the area were also introduced to Digifarm App - an agribusiness solution tailored for small-holder farmers, providing them with financing, information on different crops and animals in addition to quality, discounted inputs.

The app is a game changer to Meru’s economy which is predominantly driven by agriculture.

Meru farmers who signed up in droves will especially benefit from the all-round availability of inputs at the depots, especially during peak season, and access to advisory and technical information from experts stationed at each of the depots.

Away from the Shamba, the local talent received a major boost after interested participants were given a chance to showcase their unique talents to the judges who are experts in different fields.

The search attracted over 250 people from the Mount Kenya and North Eastern Regions.

The winner of the musician category Emma Kaimuri had a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity where she got to perform a collabo with Wahu live on stage.

Another young man who caught the attention of the judges with his indefatigable drive was Paul Mwangi - a self-taught DJ who made his own decks using everyday materials.

Top blazers (the first runners-up out of each category) were awarded the Rising Star award. The contestants (18-26 years old) were also awarded Kshs. 30,000 cash from BLAZE, a Blaze flame device and KShs. 10,000 worth of airtime.

The icing on the cake was the concert in which revellers were treated to incredible performances by Wahu, Nyashinki, Njugush, Bahati, Mercy Masika, King Kaka, David Wonder, MC Alemba, DJ Deff, DJ Pierra, DJ Euphoric, DJ Joe Mfalme, Karimi Bruno, GMX The Baite to mention but a few.

The experience will be coming to your town too, and this week it is going down in the coastal city of Mombasa – the entrance is still an unscratched 100 bob airtime card which you get to load your phone with once you get in (win-win).

The concert will be entirely managed by MoSound Events guaranteeing you a spectacular stage set up, incredible sound and full fun.

The 3rd edition kicked off on 16th July - 3rd August 2018 and the concert will be one for the ages with an equally star-studded line-up.

This time MC Alemba, DJ Deff, Kris Darling, DJ Joe Mfalme, King Kaka, Njugush, Nyashinski, Mercy Masika, Redsan, Fena, Susumila and Mzee Ngala, together with the winners of the Talent hunt will perform live from 6 PM till late.

“The favourite place is Mombasa and it’s being prepped for the hottest gig, come let’s worship at the Mombasa Sports Club,” Mercy Masika wrote on her twitter alerting her fans that it was finally going down.

Definitely a must-attend event where you can make great memories and create lasting connections.
