Standard Media Group-owned Radio Maisha has finally spoken on why comedian Kazungu Matano popularly known as Captain Otoyo was fired from the station.
High placed sources at the station told Kenyans.co.ke that the veteran comedian has had disciplinary issues for a while.
“In his capacity as a radio host Otoyo was very unprofessional in the way he handled himself.

“He would report late to work and he had been on probation for this. When he persisted we decided to cut links with him,” the source stated.
The decision to terminate his services was communicated to him on Friday, July 20, by the human resource manager.
It was also revealed that the stand-up comedian sometimes reported to work when under the influence of alcohol.
Allegations have it that Kazungu’s position became obsolete after Alex Mwakideu left the Mombasa Road-based station for Milele FM.
It was a short stay for the comedian who joined the station in April this year.
Radio Maisha has since hired two new presenters, Billy Miya and Mwalimu Mbaruk, to take over from Otoyo and Mwakideu in an effort to firm up its audience base.
In a recent Geopoll survey, the station was ranked the second most listened to in Kenya
