Moses Kuria Slams Aden Duale Over Sarah Serem's Nomination

Gatundu South Member of Parliament (MP) Moses Kuria on Friday attacked National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale over Sarah Serem's ambassadorial appointment.

The vocal legislator has promised to fight it off with Duale to ensure that Serem secures the parliament's approval on her appointment.

Speaking during a fundraiser at Bishop Gatimu Ngandu Girls School, Kuria stated: "She is a nominee of the President. We will approve her name".

"The Majority Leader is wrong on this one and I will mobilise other members of Parliament to pass the nomination," the Gatundu South legislator stated.

Kuria was responding to a previous remark by Duale alleging a plan to revenge against Serem over slashing down their salaries without consulting them during her tenure in the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC).

"Those who were in the 11th and 12th Parliament, you know how much we have been reduced as leaders of this country. You know what we went through,

"…and God is great. We have another opportunity, Sarah Serem did not know that she would be nominated for a position that needs vetting," Duale stated.

On his part, Rigathi Gachagua (Mathira) who was accompanying Kuria iterated: "MPs' work is to process and approve the President's nominees. We are telling Serem not to be intimidated by Duale's sentiments".

"The President was right when nominating her and we will pass the recommendation," the Mathira MP stated as the two promised to do all within their powers to ensure Serem's approval.

Kuria was accompanied at the fundraiser by Alice Wahome (Kandara), Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga and Deputy Governor Carol Karugu.

The remarks by Kuria and Duale mark another turn in the rumoured factions within the ruling Jubilee Party between DP William Ruto's allies and leaders affiliated to Uhuru Kenyatta.
