Babu Owino Receives Death Threats

Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has exposed details of a fraudulent scheme sending him death threats.

The MP shared a message sent to his phone on Friday night purporting to alert him over an assassination scheme.

In the message posted on the MPs social media platforms, the sender named ten people whom he claims had been paid to kill Babu.

"This is the message I received today (22:20PM on Friday, August 3, 2018) from a strange number. Let those idiots come and they will experience what has never been experienced before.Wakishoot tuna shoot, wakinyonga tunanyonga," the MP wrote.

A number of the MPs followers did not take the post lightly, castigating him for exposing the message sender's telephone number.

Kenyans.co.ke  has sought to establish the source of the death threats.

When contacted, one Lameck Nyaberi Makori picked up and denied being aware of the message appearing to have originated from his number.

The phone number registration details indicated Lameck was the rightful owner of the phone number displayed in the message sent to the MP.

Nyaberi told Kenyan.co.ke that he is 19-year-old in Kebirigo, Nyamira County and does not know the MP.

He claims to have given his sim card to his sister Hellen Makori, a month ago as she left home and happened to have lost it.

"I gave my sim card to my sister when she was leaving home and she only came back on Thursday evening. We kept wondering where she had gone all that time. She just informed me that she had lost the sim card. I have just replaced it now and I don't know anything about the message you are asking about," refuted Nyaberi.

He says the family did not know where his sister had been after leaving home with his sim card for a whole month.

We could not immediately speak to the said sister who he informed us was away attending a church service at Kebirigo SDA church.
