Mzee Juma Saidi Wins 5th Apartment in Maisha Ni Mpesa Tu Promotion

A maintenance manager was on Friday announced as the 5th winner of an apartment worth Ksh 7.8 million as part of Safaricom's 'Maisha ni M-Pesa Tu' promotion.

Mzee Juma Saidi was handed the key to the posh residence by Safaricom’s Director of Enterprise Business Unit Rita Okuthe.

Mzee Juma and his family could not hide their excitement as the met Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore in telco’s head offices at Westlands, Nairobi.

The newly unveiled apartment winner primarily uses M-Pesa to send money to his family in Mombasa from Kampala, Uganda where he works.

Juma could not resist from dancing alongside comedian Chipukeezy as he was welcomed to his newly acquired residence at Richland Point Apartments off Kamiti Road in Nairobi.

He mentioned that the reality of winning the apartment hit him on his way from Mombasa to Nairobi.

“At that moment I realized Maisha ni Mpesa tu,” he told Chipukeezy.

Two more houses are yet to be given to two lucky customers which will happen over the next two weeks.

A statement from the leading mobile network service provider outlines that more than 140,000 customers have won daily and weekly instant cash prizes so far in the draw.

Some of the prizes include Ksh1000, Ksh2,000, Ksh5,000 and Ksh10,000. An additional 1,280 M-PESA agents have received weekly prizes of Ksh10,000 in float and airtime.

"We began this promotion to reward our customers for their loyalty over the last 11 years and to recognise them for their contribution in making M-PESA most successful mobile money service in the world,” Sitoyo Lopokoiyit, Safaricom's Financial Services Director recently stated.
