Senator Johnson Sakaja Reveals Why Jubilee is Campaigning For ODM in Migori

Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja on Monday revealed that Jubilee Party will campaign for the ODM candidate in Migori Senatorial by-election.

According to Sakaja, the decision by his party not to field a candidate for the seat was informed by their confidence in ODM party leader Raila Odinga.

Sakaja indicated that Jubilee believes that the decision made by Raila to have Dr Ochilo Ayako contest Migori seat under the ODM ticket was the best.

"We decided that, as Jubilee, we will have no candidate because we’re supporting the choice of Baba due to the handshake.

"Let us not allow anyone to bring divisive politics. This is a new Kenya. Unity of the people, inclusivity and integrity.

"We will not allow any politician to derail the journey President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga began," Sakaja stated.

Other candidates eyeing the seat include Jobando Peter Osikeo (Green Congress Party of Kenya), Ogolla Dickson Ogolla (Independent), Eddy Gicheru Oketch (Federal Party of Kenya), Otieno Samwel Otieno (Independent), and Rugaria Solomon Hodo (PDP).

The seat was left vacant after Migori Senator Ben Oluoch Okello died at MP Shah Hospital, Nairobi on June 19.

Sakaja’s endorsement came days after Ford-Kenya party leader Moses Wetangula endorsed People Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Solomon Hodo for the same seat.

Sakaja appealed to all Kenyans to continue supporting the 'Building Bridges to a New Kenyan Nation' by President Uhuru and the opposition leader opining that it is the only way to unite Kenyans.
