EACC Detectives Arrest 2 Migori County Directors

Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) detectives on Wednesday arrested two Migori County Directors in connection with corruption.

Directors Tom Kwasi (Public Service) and Charles Wambura (Water department) were nabbed in a dramatic incident in Migori Town as they went about their business.

Kwasi and Wambura are accused of violating procurement procedures in awarding government tenders and were scheduled to appear in court to answer to the charges on Thursday.

Migori police boss Joseph Nthenge confirmed the arrests adding that EACC was still searching for nine more top officials implicated in corruption.

EACC operatives conveyed that the nine had gone into hiding soon after the two bosses were taken in adding that they were being tracked.

"It is a matter of when they shall be arrested. We are tracking their movements every minute," an EACC official stated.

EACC Spokesman Yassin Amaro reiterated the stance taken by the anti-corruption body confirming the Migori crackdown.

Management of resources in Migori County has been a touchy issue with members of the Kuria community in the county claiming to be sidelined in the process.

Kuria East MP Marwa Kitayama has been quoted accusing the county administration of centering the distribution of resources among three persons he refused to name.

"Money is stuck in Migori town, hijacked by the three people who are more powerful than executives and chief officers on funds use," he stated.
