Details of DP William Ruto's Meeting with President Yoweri Museveni

Deputy President William Ruto on Sunday held a special meeting with Uganda President Yoweri Museveni at State House, Entebbe.

The DP who was in the neighbouring country to receive the 2018 Lifetime Achievement Award was hosted by Museveni.

During the meeting, Ruto was accompanied by his son and several Kenyan leaders shortly after the DP held a meeting with the Uganda Private Sector at Serena Hotel, Kampala.

The two leaders discussed a number of issues including collaboration in trade, agriculture and capital investments.

"Kenya and Uganda enjoy cordial relations and share mutual interests. We are the largest recipients of Uganda products within the East African Community and our companies are the biggest investors.

"Our continued collaboration will result in new, diversified income streams and strengthen the two countries economies," Ruto stated.

The two leaders later launched a 150-kilometre Kapchorwa - Suam Road which he noted will be a major artery linking Kenya and Uganda.

"The construction of trans-boundary infrastructure is key to regional integration, attracting investors and enabling access to emerging markets.

"The road will enhance connectivity, stimulate economic activity and ease movement of people, good and services," the DP added.

Earlier on at the Serena Hotel meeting, the DP expressed his admiration for his host: "I am a great supporter of President Museveni because much as he is the president in Uganda, his heart is in the region. His experience is invaluable, as well as his strategic leadership in putting the continent together".

Among the leaders who accompanied Ruto during the meeting is Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro and Council of Governors chairman Josphat Nanok.
