DP William Ruto Meets Wiper Kalonzo Musyoka in Machakos

Deputy President William Ruto met Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka on Saturday in Machakos.

The two were among dignitaries who attended the installation of Bishop Norman King’oo as the new Catholic Church Bishop for Machakos Diocese.

The occasion is being presided over by Archbishop Muheria, who is also the acting Apostolic Administrator of Machakos Diocese.

The Bishop who served in the Bungoma Diocese for the last 19 years was appointed to head Machakos Diocese by Pope Francis on June 23.

Bishop King’oo will be the fourth Machakos Catholic Bishop after his predecessors Ndingi Mwanaa Nzeki, late Urbanus Kioko and Martin Kivuva Musonde.

Also present is Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua, Kivutha Kibwana of Makueni and Cabinet Secretary Eugene Walamwa.

This was Kalonzo's and Ruto's second meeting since the May 31 'hugshake' while the other meeting came after Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko hosted the two for Iftar dinner in June.

They reaffirmed their commitment to work together despite their different political affiliations.

The DP stated that the politics is over and called on politicians to embrace competition based on development agenda rather than division and tribalism.

Kalonzo remarked that he stands for the country’s unity, but clarified that the handshake does not imply that the opposition had joined the ruling party.
