On Saturday, Kenyans living in Berlin Germany took to the streets to protest unreasonable demands by the Kenyan embassy on the issuance of e-passports.
The diaspora community pitched tent outside the premises housing the Kenyan embassy in protest of what they termed as poor services especially those touching on the acquisition of e-passports.
The Kenyans revealed officials at the embassy are forcing them to fly back home to renew their passports.
“Kenyan ambassador to Germany said that Kenyans would renew their passports here in Germany, but this is yet to happen,” one of the protesters noted.
The group also complained of harassment and delays at the Immigration headquarters in Nairobi whenever they tried to renew the travel documents.
They demanded the processing of the crucial documents be done at the Kenyan embassy in Berlin and at an affordable cost.
“Passport processing has been an issue for a long time and the question I ask myself is why? I hoped to have this question answered when President Uhuru Kenyatta visited Germany,” added a protestor as quoted by Nation.
"The big question is - Why should we finance them without offering any service? These useless embassies should be closed,” an irate Kenyan remarked.
They further commended DPP Noordin Haji and DCI George Kinoti for their spirited fight against corruption.
“It’s good to commend the Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Director of Public Prosecutions for the great work they are doing, the two need more support to do their work efficiently.”
