Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria Owns Up on His Role in Raising Fuel Prices

Gatundu South Member of Parliament (MP) Moses Kuria on Sunday owned up on his role in the recent fuel price hike.

In a message sent out on Facebook, Kuria revealed that as a legislator, the fuel hike did not come as surprise as he was part of the team that passed various sections of government expenditure.

"I can not turn around and start crying with you about the VAT on fuel. I will be pretending," the Gatundu South MP indicated.

As a member of the Budget and Appropriations Committee in the National Assembly, Kuria indicated that he voted to approve the 2018/2019 budget that surpassed the Ksh3 Trillion mark.

"I am also a member of the Transport, Infrastructure, Housing and Public Works Committee. In fact, I am the Vice Chair there.

"I voted wholeheartedly to approve Ksh179 Billion to build you better roads, Ksh58 Billion for SGR from Nairobi to Naivasha, more Billions for our Affordable Housing under the Big 4.

The vocal legislator indicated that as an MP, he approved expenditure to complete stalled markets, run universal healthcare, and complete 58 irrigation dams that are underway.

"You never faulted me. It did not bother you where I would get the money from. You even applauded me," Kuria quipped.

In this view, Kuria told off the MPs who have been crying foul following the implementation of the 16% VAT levy on petroleum products.

"Kindly ask John Mbandi who sits with me in the budget committee to shut up and wipe out crocodile tears.

"Tell all those pretentious leaders to man up or woman up and stop treating you like fools," Kuria concluded.
