National Land Commission (NLC) Chairman Muhammad Swazuri can no longer access his office after the body locked him out.
Door locks to his office at Ardhi House were changed during the weekend after it emerged that he did not follow the right procedures to return to work.
The drastic action was reached after a meeting between NLC acting CEO David Kuria, Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) Deputy CEO Michael Mubea and the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) on Friday.
“NLC failed to consult EACC, as directed by the courts, before being allowed back into the office. Until that is followed, he will be out,” a source intimated.
His secretary was also directed to stay away until she gets an alternative office.
Swazuri’s counsel Professor Tom Ojienda indicated that he would take the matter to court for further directions.
“They locked the doors at the commission by changing the locks and even his secretary can't access the office. We will move to court for further directions,” Ojienda told the Standard.
Last month, Swazuri was barred from his office after being charged with alleged illegal payment for the land acquired to build the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR).
However, anti-corruption court magistrate Lawrence Mugambi overturned the decision on August 29.
He ruled that Swazuri can access the office under supervision to avoid interference with witnesses.
The embattled chairman resumed work on Friday but did not show up on Monday.
