Student Sharon Otieno Kidnapped with Nation Journalist Found Dead

A pregnant university student abducted with Nation Journalist Barrack Oduor on Monday in Migori has been found dead.

Sharon Otieno, who was pursuing a degree in Medical Records and Information at Rongo University, went missing on Monday evening.

Reports by the Daily Nation stated that Sharon's father Douglas Otieno confirmed he had viewed his daughter’s body at the Oyugis Level Four Hospital in Oyugis at 1am.

He rushed to the hospital after the police informed the family that a woman’s body had been found dumped in the forest.

A senior criminal investigations officer in Homa Bay quoted by the Daily Nation also confirmed that the body was found in the forest.

Sharon and Oduor were kidnapped after being lured by Governor Okoth Obado’s Personal Assistant Michael Oyamo.

Oyamo was arrested on Tuesday and taken to Homa Bay for questioning over the incident that left Oduor badly injured.

The journalist stated that one of the men held him by the neck in an attempt to strangle him but he managed to fight them, opened the door and jumped out of the speeding car at Nyangweso market.

The vehicle stopped and the men started to chase him. Luckily, Oduor managed to seek refuge at a home by the road.

"I crawled through the bushes into the homestead. A good Samaritan took me to a police post before I was transferred to Kendu Bay Police Station,"

Nation regional editor Aggrey Mutambo took Oduor to Aga Khan after the office was alerted of the incident.
