An aide-de-camp (ADC) is arguably the closest person to the Head of State serving as a personal assistant to the President during official functions.
As such, the military officer who is supposed to bring dignity and honour to the highest office in the land is likely to enjoy a cordial relationship with the President.
However, a former ADC's attempt to go beyond the call of duty may have rubbed President Uhuru Kenyatta the wrong way earning the officer a scold from his boss.
In the undated video seen by Kenyans.co.ke, the President and senior military officials had just boarded the open-top ceremonial military Land Cruiser during an unidentified public function.
Something on the shoulder of President Uhuru's coat seems to have caught the hawk-eye of Lieutenant Colonel Victor Mburu who went ahead to attempt to rub it off.
Several unsuccessful attempts to remove whatever "speck of dust" was dotting Uhuru's coat did not go so well.
The level of perfection exhibited by Col Mburu seems to have been too much for a man who is quite simplistic in his approach and an otherwise jovial Uhuru got irritated by the ADC's advances.
The video captures the moment when Uhuru turned to Col Mburu enquiring what was the reason behind his constant pecking.
Whatever answer the President got did not sound satisfactory as he immediately threw one hand in the air in utter disapproval.
A visibly humiliated Col Mburu stepped back and went on to rub whatever he had taken off Uhuru's jacket deep into his trouser pocket.
Colonel Mburu was succeeded by the current ADC Lt Colonel Timothy Stelu Lekolol from the Kenya Navy who is deputized by Lt Colonel Rachel Nduta Kamui - the first female officer to hold the position.
