Kisumu Governor Anyang' Nyong'o Hospitalised After Suffering Fractured Bone

Kisumu Governor Anyang' Nyong'o is in hospital after he slipped in Nyeri while attending a conference on Universal Healthcare on Tuesday.

Since he was a speaker at the conference, he was forced to give his address while wearing a sling to support his arm.

After consulting a doctor in Nyeri, the X-Ray results revealed that he had suffered a fracture on his left humerus- the bone between the elbow joint and the shoulder.

The Governor fell after he slipped while walking on a pavement and hurt his upper arm. Nyong'o was transferred to the Aga Khan Hospital and underwent surgery on Wednesday night.

Through a statement, his communications secretary revealed that he was responding well to treatment.

He called for a transformation approach to healthcare and noted that there was a need to mainstream the health requirements of disabled people.

We have prepared a disability Bill in the Kisumu County Assembly that specifies the needs of PWDs (people living with disability) in the health sector and also ways they can have their needs catered for across sectors,” he stated

Of the 41,000 NHIF beneficiaries in Kisumu, 13,000 are Children.

He is known to pay special attention to policies about healthcare because they are close to his heart. He was diagnosed with cancer in 2010 when he was the Minister for Health.

In January 2018, he travelled to the US for surgery to replace his hip bone.
