The Energy Regulation Commission has introduced new fuel prices moments after President Uhuru Kenyatta proposed a reduced tax levy on fuel.
The regulatory body declared that the new prices will take effect from September 15 to October 14 2018.
In Nairobi super petrol price reduced by 2.21 shillings while diesel and kerosene cost increased by Ksh 0.39 and Ksh 0.29 respectively.

The prices are inclusive of Value Added Tax (VAT) at 16% in line with the provisions of the VAT Act 2013. Nevertheless, the Commission shall publish new prices whenever the rate of VAT is varied by law.
Changes in the prices have been as a consequence of the average landed cost of imported Super Petrol decreasing by 2.33% from US$ 761.55 per ton in July 2018 to US$ 743.85 per ton in August 2018.
Retail prices in Nairobi are Ksh 125 for petrol, Ksh 115 for diesel and Ksh 97 for kerosene.
In Nakuru super petrol will trade at Ksh 126 per litre while kerosene and diesel will sell at Ksh 98 and Ksh 116 respectively.
Kisumu motorists will pay Ksh 127 per litre of petrol, Ksh 117 for diesel and Ksh 99 for kerosene.
Uhuru on Friday recommended a reduction of VAT on Petroleum products to lower the price of fuel.
Kenyatta, during an address to the Nation, stated that he had proposed a 50% reduction in the 16% VAT to 8 per cent.
He noted once approved shall see fuel prices drop significantly with a litre of Petrol going for Kshs 118 down from Kshs 127.
