Uhuru Blasted After Posting Senator Irungu Kangata's Wedding Photos

President Uhuru Kenyatta was on Saturday blasted by his social media followers shortly after he posted photos from Murang'a Senator Irungu Kangata's wedding.

The president had shared a congratulatory message to Kang'ata and his bride after he attended the Senator's function.

A number of President Kenyatta's followers would not let the president have the moment as they quickly bashed him for taking time off from his official duties.

Here are some of the comments they posted.

President Kenyatta's caption read: "Congratulated newlyweds, Murang'a Senator Irungu Kang'ata and his wife Mary Wambui during their wedding ceremony at St. Ann Gathinja Catholic Church in Murang'a."

A number of his followers joined in congratulating the couple on their nuptials amid the hate that hit the president.

Others were surprised to find out that the Senator had not married yet, Njeri Mwangi posted: "Haiya! Reggae man hakuwa ameoa (wasn't married)? Anyway, congratulations senator."

In his address to the newlyweds, President Kenyatta advised the couple to stay together in the interest of nation-building.

"Marriages give birth to families which are the foundations of the nation and future generations, they should be cherished and kept together. Leaders should get married to become good examples in the society," he noted.

He urged Kiharu Member of Parliament (MP) Ndindi Nyoro to follow Kangata's example and marry.

"Murang’a County has produced great leaders including the late (Dr Julius Gikonyo) Kiano and (John) Michuki and had families, Mr Kangata was Kiharu MP for five years and now Mr Nyoro is serving the electorates of Kiharu and is not married," the president joked, prompting the legislator to introduce his fiancee.
