Ugandan MP Bobi Wine Spotted at JKIA

Ugandan politician Bobi Wine was on Thursday spotted in Kenya as he waited to board his flight to Uganda.

The businessman was treated to a celebrity reception by Kenyans at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) as they took photos with him.

The musician whose real name is Robert Kyagulanyi was connecting a flight from Kenya to Entebbe after spending three weeks in the United States.

Here are some of the photos and video:

The Kyadondo East Member of Parliament had sought treatment in the US after being tortured while in police custody a month ago.

Bobi and other opposition politicians were arrested and charged with treason in August over the alleged stoning of President Yoweri Museveni's convoy.

The arrest saw the world come to his support as his fans from different countries urged the Ugandan authorities to dismiss the charges and enhance democracy in the country.

Allegations that the MP and Zaake were tortured triggered widespread protests in Kampala and other parts of Uganda.

President Yoweri Museveni, however, denied claims of abuse by his government through the use of security personnel to suppress opposition to his rule.

During his trial at a Military Court, Bobi was at first accused of being in possession of firearms and ammunition which are ordinarily a monopoly of the Defence Forces.

His alleged torture prompted musicians and other prominent leaders in Africa to use social media as a platform to advocate for his freedom.
