Former IEBC Chair Isaack Hassan Makes Comeback After Uhuru Appointment

Former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chairman Ahmed Isaack Hassan has made comeback after he was appointed as the Chairperson of the Board of the Kenya Industrial Property Institute.

His appointment is one of many announced in a gazette notice released on Friday.

The former IEBC boss had earlier in the year disclosed that he was unable to secure job because of an old disciplinary case pending at the Law Society of Kenya (LSK).

He sued the society accusing them of professional misconduct, having declined to rule on a complaint against him a record 13 times.

Hassan argued that the complaint had made him subject to ridicule among his peers.

In the latest gazette notice, Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa appointed rugby player Humphrey Khayange and Tecla Lorupe as Board Members of the Kenya Academy of Sports.

Slain IEBC ICT boss Chris Msando’s wife Eva Buyu Msando was also appointed alongside former Mbooni MP Kisoi Munyao and one John Masaba to be members of the Export Processing Zones (EPZ) Authority for 3 years.

Uhuru picked Paul Gicheru to chair the EPZ for 3 years with effect from the October 2.

Former Senate Speaker Ekwee Ethuro was appointed as chairperson of the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) for 5 years.

Businessman Zedekiah Bundotich, popularly known as Buzeki, was named as chairman of the Board of Chemelil Sugar Company Limited.

David Osiany and former Kisumu gubernatorial contestant Christine Atieno Otieno were appointed to the board of Chemelil Sugar company.

Ex-Mwingi North MP John Munuve was named member and the non-executive chairperson of the Sacco Societies Regulatory Authority (SASRA) for the next 3 years.
