DPP Noordin Haji Speaks on Threats to His Life

Director of Public Prosecution Noordin Haji has opened up about serious threats to his life some of which are recent and alive.

Speaking to KTN News, the DPP intimated that he has constantly received death threats against him and his family from different quarters due to his work.

Haji revealed that the earliest threats came from Al-Qaeda - the terror group founded by Osama bin Laden whose operatives are Islamic extremists and Salafist jihadists.

"I have had threats. When I worked at the National Intelligence Service (NIS), there were threats against me and my family from Al-Shabaab.

"Those threats are still in existence. The Al-Shabaab has even renewed their threats against me," he stated.

DPP Haji further indicated that following his war against corruption especially at the National Land Commission (NLC), there has been a sudden interest in his father, Garissa Senator Yusuf Haji.

"My father's name has been popping up suddenly and interestingly. I think it is a way to tell me to stop," he expressed noting that this appeared as a subtle threat.

The DPP, however, added that nothing will deter him from delivering his mandate and what he believes is best for the country.

"I believe in God and that my destiny is determined by Him and no human. If I am destined to die at a certain time or point, I will. There is nothing I can do about it," Haji added.

Noting that every mortal being has an expiry date, Haji indicated that he is ready to die for a good course.

"Frankly, I want them to know that for my country and for God, I will do this, and I am determined," the DPP concluded.
