Jacque Maribe's Fiancé Joe Irungu Arrested Over Brutal Murder of Monica Kimani

On Tuesday morning, police arrested top TV journalist Jacque's Maribe's fiancé for the brutal murder of Monica Kimani.

Police indicated that the man identified as Joe Irungu is nursing gunshot wounds after shooting himself in the shoulder.

Irungu is believed to have slit the throat of the 28-year-old woman in her Kilimani apartment on Wednesday night with the help of others.

In a statement recorded at Langata Police Station on September 21, Irungu claimed he was shot and injured as he dropped his love at Royal Park Estate in Langata, Nairobi.

He told the police that he was shot as he tried to establish why strangers were hanging out at the gate of the residence.

His lover noted she drove him to Nairobi West Hospital where he was attended to and left to go home.

He was later taken to Langata Hospital where he was admitted on Friday afternoon until Monday evening when he was discharged.



On investigation, the police found no spent cartridge on the scene.

Irungu is currently being interrogated at the Kilimani Police Station.

Last week, security discovered Monica’s body who was cut by the throat and dumped in her bathtub in Kilimani estate.

Her brother George, narrated how they found the body at Luciane apartments on Kitale Lane off Dennis Pritt road on September 20, 2018.

I came to check on her since my mother had called and she wasn’t picking. I sent her a message but she never replied,” the brother was quoted by Citizen Digital.

Details later emerged that, two men had signed in as Owen and Joe to visit Monica in her apartment.

It is reported that they found her in the company of a white man who was believed to be a neighbour.
