What Prince William Told President Uhuru Kenyatta During Kenyan Visit

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Sunday held talks with Prince William Arthur, who paid him a courtesy call at State House, Nairobi.

Their one-on-one meeting mainly focused on wildlife conservation where the Duke of Cambridge briefed President Kenyatta on the Illegal Wildlife Trade Conference that will be held in London on October 11 and 12.

Prince William ended his trip to Africa with a visit to British soldiers and school children in Laikipia County.

Irish Guards Commander Lieutenant Colonel Jonathan Palmer described Prince William's visit to Nanyuki as "really lovely".

Kensington Palace had stated that Prince William was making the "private working trip" as president of the United for Wildlife group and patron of Tusk, another conservation organisation.

Defence Cabinet Secretary Raychelle Omamo and Laikipia Governor Ndiritu Muriithi led the local delegation that met the prince.

Notably, only leaders who were invited were allowed into the camp, and most had to leave behind their personal security.

Governor Muriithi arrived in a single vehicle, with a driver and one bodyguard since security at the camp was tight, with ground and aerial surveillance.

The Laikipia Governor lauded Prince William’s engagement in tourism, noting it would go a long way in boosting wildlife conservation.

“The Prince is a crusader of conservation and his tour is largely focused on that. Laikipia is a county that is home to wildlife, and this is key to us,” the governor stated.
