ODM leader Raila Odinga on Monday answered Deputy President William Ruto after the latter accused outsiders of attempting to scuttle Jubilee Party.
Speaking during the opening of Katani Hospital in Mlolongo, Machakos County, Raila made an indirect hit back at Ruto.
"Niliskia mwingine akisema kaa nyinyi mlishindwa, Wakenya washaa amua tuendelee mbele. Kama wewe unakimbia peke yako kama mchawi usiku, umeshinda nani (I heard someone saying that since we lost, we should forge ahead. If you participate in a race alone like a witch, who do you claim to have defeated)?" Raila posed.
The ODM leader further indicated that some people in the country have been uncomfortable since he reached an agreement with President Uhuru Kenyatta to fight corruption and repatriate proceeds of corruption.
"Hiyo vita dhidi ya ufisadi ndiyo inaleta mtetemeko. Ndiyo inafanya watu wabweke kama mbwa. Wanatetemeka, na mimi nasema kama huna makosa unaogopa nini (The war against corruption has shaken the country. That is why people are barking in fear. My question is; why should you fear if you are not guilty)," he maintained.
The crowd pressed him to blast his opponents with the call "toboa (say it all)" renting the air.
Raila, however, did not comply with the call noting that the war against corruption will continue to conclusion.
"Mimi staki kuongea juu ya watu wengine. Wachana na hao watu wamepoteza njia (I don't want to discuss other people. Leave them alone, they have lost their way).
"Tunasema Baba Yetu wasamehe maana hawajui yale wanafanya (We are saying, may God forgive them for they know not what they do)," Raila concluded.
Speaking at Coast on Sunday, the DP cautioned the outsiders saying that he was wary of their plans.
"You can't chase me in ODM and follow me to Jubilee to axe me out. They are planning propaganda on how to mess Jubilee. That is daydreaming," Ruto stated.
On his part, ODM MP Junet Mohamed (Suna East) earlier on told off the DP opining that Ruto was looking for an excuse to leave Jubilee Party and should not use the "handshake" as a scapegoat.
