A senior member of staff at the Makueni County Assembly who had been missing was on Tuesday found dead.
The body of the officer who works in the office of the sergeant at arms was retrieved from a house at Shimo Estate in Wote town.
Makueni Police commander Joseph Ole Napeiyan confirmed the reports saying the room where the deceased was living was locked from inside and he had no physical injuries.
Napeiyan stated that the police in the area have launched investigations into the incident.
The county government employee had been reported missing since Sunday.
The motive and circumstances surrounding the mysterious death are still unclear.
Meanwhile, Makieni Governor Kivutha Kibwana sent two senior staff in his administration on compulsory leave over corruption allegations.
Governor Kibwana sent Transport CEC Sebastian Kyoni and chief officer Sammy Ngumbi on a compulsory leave earlier in the day.
