Kenyan Girl Tyra Angel Odeny Wins Little Miss World

A 12-year-old Kenyan girl has been crowned the “Little Miss World 2018 Grand Prix” winner at the 18th International Children’s Festival of Culture Fashion and Arts.

Tyra Angel Odeny won the coveted award on Tuesday in Thessalonika, Greece.

In 2017, she won Little Miss Kenya before proceeding to the international platform.

She was donned with a golden crown for her exemplary performance at the fashion competition.

Angel was also awarded 500 Euros (Ksh 58,500) for scooping the main title at the cultural event.

We wholeheartedly congratulate you and wish your dreams come true. Smile to the world and the world will smile at you,” the organizing committee and partners of the festival stated.

Speaking to K24 Alfajiri show, she mentioned that her victory shows it's never about where you come from but about who you are.

When I was younger, other kids kept teasing me saying that I was as black as charcoal making me want to bleach my skin.

My mother intervened and build my confidence and now I love my skin,” she remarked.

She advised parents to nurture the talents of their kids and encourage them to stick to what they are good at.
