Deaf Kenyan rapper Douglas Munyendo alias Lal Daggy on Friday got recognition from the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC).
The international broadcaster ran a feature of the rapper who uses sign language in his craft.
"My name is Lal Daggy, I'm from Kenya. I was born hearing then I became deaf when I was five years old.
"My songs are for people generally and are mainly inspirational," he conveyed during the interview.
Douglas went on to explain that his songs contain voice-overs and subtitles that help those who can't read sign language to understand his message.
"I normally write my own ideas down and when writing songs I go in the studio," he stated.
The rapper got an opportunity to perform for President Uhuru Kenyatta which propelled him to stardom.
"My main achievement is my performance for Kenya's President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2015," he relayed.
The performer debuted in the Kenyan music scene with a performance at the Sarakasi Dome when popular artiste Nonini voiced Lal's song, Story ya Machampions.
"I grew up in Kisumu and came to Nairobi in 2012. I started recording in River Road for a while until I was introduced to Nonini. He is passionate about people with disability and that is why he decided to work with me," he narrated shortly after his maiden performance.
