Deputy President William Ruto on Sunday handed Ksh200,000 to Nyangwa high school students for bread during a visit to Embu.
This came after the head student of the school welcomed him saying that President Uhuru had visited them the year before and so this was Deputy President’s time.
While handing them the envelop full of money, Ruto told them that he wanted them to enjoy.
This attracted cheers from both the students receiving and the leaders in his entourage.
The video has been shared online eliciting different reactions from the public, both praises and criticisms.
"I am an alumni but this is not the way out... so much which needs to be done in that school, by the way does the school still give breads to their top students every term?" @MukamiWaEmbu expressed.
"Ruto imagines he is another Moi. His politics mirrors all Moi did. Even the pretentious piety... and donations," @francis_mmakau also stated on Twitter.
In September, The DP donated Ksh2 million to bail out Cyrus Jirongo who had been detained over Ksh20 million debt.
Before that, in July, over the spread of a week, Ruto is reported to have donated more than Ksh20 million.
At Nguviu Boys High School, he offered Ksh5 million and elsewhere that day, at Kamana high School, he also donated Ksh5 million. Later that week, he donated Ksh5 million to Pumwani Primary School and then the last bunch while in Tharaka Nithi.
