Purpose of Bobi Wine's 5 Day Trip to Kenya Revealed

Ugandan MP Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine will tour Kenya on a five-day official visit.

Confirming the trip at Parliament building on Tuesday, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino revealed that Bobi Wine will be accompanied by a delegation of young Ugandans MPs on Wednesday.

"I wish to take this opportunity to announce to the nation that Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi will be leading a delegation of young Ugandan MPs to Kenya this Moi Day for a five-day visit,"

"This visit is in response to an invitation I sent as Secretary General of the Kenya Young Parliamentarians Association out of profound respect for the role Hon. Kyagulanyi plays in inspiring young people across the continent," he added.

During Bobi Wine's visit, the young MPs will engage on how to advance democracy across Africa and improve participation of young people in governance.

Kenya Young Parliamentarians Association led by its Secretary-General Babu Owino had vowed to lead a delegation of MPs to Uganda to hold a protest if Bobi Wine – was not released.

Babu had warned they would not be intimidated by the oppressive and dictatorial nature of President Yoweri Museveni and welcomed attempts by authorities in Uganda to arrest them once they land in Kampala.

He had condemned the arrest of the Kyaddondo East MP and described Museveni’s autocratic system of ruling as barbaric and archaic.

“We have been arrested before and we do not fear Museveni. We will be taking a revolutionary demonstration to Uganda because it is high time things change in our neighbouring country. We cannot sit, and watch injustices being committed in the continent," Babu had stated.

“We cannot allow Museveni to kill the future of the youth. He has proved time and again that he is unsuitable to be in office,” he added.

Different right groups from Kenya had piled pressure on Ugandan authorities to release Bobi Wine, who is viewed as a critic of Museveni who has publicly scolded his way of ruling.
